The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is pleased to announce that an important step in its project to build a new French-language Catholic elementary school in Hanmer / Val Thérèse has been reached. The Ontario Ministry of Education recently granted the school board the approval to proceed with the tender process. The CSC Nouvelon has already received the capital funding for the construction of this new school as well as the purchase of the property to build a new school for students currently enrolled at École Notre-Dame (Hanmer), École St-Joseph (Hanmer) and École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse). The new school will be built on land located in Val Thérèse on Municipal Road 80 (formerly 69 North) at Shirley Avenue.

“Our government is investing $14 billion over ten years to build new schools, improve existing facilities and create child care spaces to ensure young people can reach their full potential," said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. “We believe that students deserve to learn in-person in state-of-the-art, accessible, modern facilities. A new consolidated French-language Catholic elementary school in Val Thérèse is part of our government’s investment in school construction to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.”

“We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for this great news which will enable us to proceed with this project of providing modern learning spaces for our Hanmer and Val Thérèse students, as well as a welcoming, engaging, healthy and safe environment focused on Christ,” stated Ms. Suzanne Salituri, CSC Nouvelon President.

“During our consultation process, our families stated their desire to offer students an appealing and user-friendly environment that will allow them to thrive in a green school designed for their future needs in this digital era. While respecting this wish, we will seek to offer our students and staff a new school that will meet their expectations and needs,” explained Mr. Paul Henry, CSC Nouvelon Director of Education and Secretary Treasurer.
