The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will hold a ceremony on Wednesday, May 8, at 11 a.m., celebrating Victory in Europe Day. This memorial gathering will take place at the Memorial Park Cenotaph, located at 188 Brady Street in Sudbury. This commemoration of the Victory of 1945 and the end of fighting in the Second World War on the European continent is important in many Allied countries, particularly France, which pays tribute on this day to the commitment of its military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will celebrate Catholic Education Week under the theme “We Are Called to Love.” From May 6 to 10, school boards across the province will promote the added value of a Catholic education and the overall excellence of French-language Catholic schools.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury (LDAS) recently recognized individuals and community partners who have contributed to the successful and continuous growth of the organization. Among those honoured at the event were Ms. Valérie Larivière and Ms. Roxane Bigras, two Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon staff members.

April 9, 2024

Thanks to the excellence of their science projects, 13 Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) students stood out during the Sudbury Regional Science Fair held on April 6 and 7 at Laurentian University. This year, no less than 19 CND students participated in this high-level scientific activity and 10 of the 14 participating projects were rewarded with an excellence award.

From April 16 to 18, some 900 Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will have the pleasure of attending a performance by Innu artist Scott-Pien Picard during a school tour. His music, both captivating and universal, will transport students into a world where talent and passion meet. On Tuesday, April 16, at 10:45 am, Scott-Pien Picard will visit École secondaire catholique Trillium (Chapleau) to perform for students from École Saint-Joseph (Wawa) and ÉSC Trillium. The show, to be presented on Wednesday, April 17, at 10:45 a.m. at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River), will bring together students from École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault-Ste-Marie), École catholique Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake), École Saint-Joseph (Blind River), École catholique La Renaissance (Espanola) and ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord. On Thursday, April 18, students from 18 schools in Greater Sudbury, Warren, Noëlville and St-Charles will attend his presentation at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium.

Students at École St-Charles Borromée (St-Charles) and École St-Antoine (Noëlville) will soon have the chance to live an artistic experience with Jessica Somers, an Odenak Abenaki artist, as part of a project to create a mural in both schools. Students at École St-Antoine will participate in the creation of an Indigenous mural from April 9 to 12. The following week, from April 15 to 19, it will be the turn for students at École St-Charles Borromée to live this experience.
