November 5, 2019

Students and staff at École secondaire catholique Champlain (61 Brookside Road, Chelmsford) will mark Remembrance Day on Monday, November 11. As part of their « Standing in Solidarity » day, the school will pay tribute to the members of the Canadian Armed Forces who fought to defend our values and freedoms, as well as those who continue to serve our country today. Community members and media representatives are invited to this activity.

From 9 am to 2:30 p.m., standing among hundreds of white crosses distributed on the lawn in front of ESC Champlain, students will remain silent to pay homage to the women and men in their lives who have made great sacrifices to maintain the peace in the world. Divided into groups of 11, these students will take turns every 30 minutes. In addition, a celebration will be held in front of the school at 10:45 a.m. Led by the students, this celebration will include a reading, the singing of the national anthem, the interpretation of the First and Last Post, the observation of two minutes of silence as well as the recitation of a prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.
