On Wednesday, September 25, at 10 a.m., over 2,100 elementary and secondary students from some 15 Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools will gather at Place Bonaventure (4764 Regional Road) in Chelmsford to take part in the celebration of the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. As it has since 2008, this annual Francophone pride event will begin with an animated march and conclude with a host of events on the École secondaire catholique Champlain school grounds (61 Brookside St.). All members of the community are invited to attend this event organized by Champlain students and staff. First held in 2008, this pride building activity is very popular among CSCNO students, staff  and families.

Sudbury  – Yesterday, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released the results of Ontario’s grade 3 and 6 students from the 2012-2013 provincial testing. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is proud to announce that its elementary students (grades 3 and 6) have shown a steady improvement in reading, writing and mathematics over the last five years.

The public as well as members of the media are invited to the 2013-2014 Conseil scolaires catholiques du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) board meetings. All meetings will take place in the Nouvel-Ontario board room located in the CSCNO board office at 201 Jogues St., in Sudbury.

The Ministry of Education is encouraging area school boards to work together to address student accommodation needs in Espanola. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, Rainbow District School Board and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are collaborating to determine how best to deliver education in English and in French in this community.

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) staff are looking forward to welcoming students on Wednesday, September 4, the first school day of the 2013-2014 school year. The CSCNO wishes to remind parents that unlike past years, there will be no early dismissal, and that students will depart from school at the regular time.

At its regular meeting on June 26, 2012, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) recognized remarkable persons for their outstanding contributions to French Catholic education during the 2012-2013 school year. The merit awards provide an opportunity for the CSCNO to reward two members of the school board who, through their efforts and actions, are accessible Catholic and francophone role models.
