Carrefour Options+ supports adults to complete their secondary school studies

September 13, 2023

Adults over the age of 21 who wish to complete their secondary school studies in French can benefit from the expertise of Carrefour Options+, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school. With an operating structure different from that of a regular high school, Carrefour Options+ offers a flexible schedule better adapted to the particular needs of adults, enabling them to study independently and take a variety of credit courses required to obtain the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Students enrolled at Carrefour Options+ can register in the regular program to earn credits towards their OSSD. Through its Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) program, candidates benefit from the evaluation of other forms of learning and life experience which may result in earning a number of additional credits.

Recognizing the importance of providing learning experiences in the workplace, students can register in the Dual Credit Recognition (DCR) program, which facilitates their transition to college and apprenticeship programs. The Cooperative Education program is also available to learners looking to enhance their theoretical learning with practical experience in the workplace. Since last year, Carrefour Options+ has also offered the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program, enabling students to train in French to provide care to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including long-term care homes and community home care agencies.

« Carrefour Options+ is proud to support mature students in their educational journeys by providing access to apprenticeship programs or helping them pursue their studies at the college or university level, » explains Ms. Jocelyne Leclair, Carrefour Options+ Principal. « Our learners work individually on their chosen courses and benefit from the support of committed school staff to bring their goals to fruition. Through our flexibility, students can start their studies at various times during the school year and follow a learning schedule adapted to their reality. »

Persons who wish to obtain more information are invited to contact Ms. Jocelyne Leclair, Principal of Carrefour Options+, at 705-525-0110 or jocelyne.leclair@nouvelon.ca. Carrefour Options+ is located at 504 St-Raphaël Street, Sudbury.
