The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is celebrating its 20th anniversary of existence during this year’s Catholic Education Week from May 6 to 12. The Catholic Education Week, with this year’s theme “Renewing the Promise,” will highlight the value of a Catholic education offered by the province’s Catholic boards as well as the superior quality of French language education offered by the Francophone Catholic schools. After 20 years of solid work and achievements, Catholic schools truly stand out, which is why more than 70% of Francophone parents choose a Catholic education for their children.
While celebrating the board’s 20th anniversary during Catholic Education Week, students and staff will take part in numerous learning, pastoral and identity activities. These activities are all meant to help participants develop their Catholicism and continue to contribute to helping our society thrive on the basis of Christian values.
“Fashioned by its Catholic faith, the CSCNO excels through the superior learning experience it provides to students, as evidenced by its excellent graduation rate, the highest amongst school boards in the Sudbury and Algoma districts, as well as the excellent results of our students in provincial testing,” stated CSCNO President André Bidal. “The undeniable link between the quality of education offered, and our Catholic foundation is the reason we chose to celebrate our successes of the last 20 years during Catholic Education Week.”

If French language Catholic schools have carved out an enviable space for themselves in Ontario, it is in no small way due to the dedication of our staff, our families, our volunteers and our partners, who support us and want to contribute to the success of our students,” added Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, Director of Education at the CSCNO.

May 8, 9:15 a.m. – Living Rosary
May 11, 12:35 p.m. – Community lunch for students and parents
École St-Dominique (2096, Montfort St, Sudbury)
May 9, 9 a.m. to 12-noon – Planting seeds at the school in preparation for the Twin Forks Community garden
May 11, 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. – Jump Rope for Heart
École Alliance St-Joseph (3634, Errington Ave, Chelmsford)
May 10, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Breakfast in the basement of the St-Joseph Parish (Chelmsford) for students and their families
May 11 from 10:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. – Pow-Wow at St-Charles College (Sudbury) for grade 6 students as well as the school’s Indigenous student population.
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
