CSCNO students to take part in improv competition

February 24, 2017

On Monday, February 27, some 30 students from three Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) secondary schools will gather at École secondaire catholique Champlain (61 Brookside Drive, Chelmsford) to take part in the “On IMPROvise” (We IMPROVise) tournament. This dynamic event, held in the ESC Champlain gymnasium, will attract the participation of young improv aficionados from the host school as well as from Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) and ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River). Members of the media are invited to attend this animated competition, during which students are to celebrate Franco-Ontarian culture through improvisation.

As part of the activity, students from the three CSCNO secondary schools will take part in a training session, offered through the support from the Ontario Arts Council, with local artist and outstanding improv performer Stef Paquette from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Afterwards, students will compete in improv matches from 10 to 11:45 a.m. and from 12:30 to 1:40 p.m.

Students will be able to perfect their improv expertise during this cultural activity, in preparation for the Coupe du Nord (Northern Cup) in Sturgeon Falls to be held on March 22, 2017, and the AFOLIE Provincial Improv Tournament, set for Barrie from April 25 to 28.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and an academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
