ÉSC Champlain receives the Premier’s Award for Accepting Schools

May 8, 2018

L’école secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) received the Premier’s Award for Accepting Schools last week. This coveted award recognizes security and tolerance teams from schools throughout the province for their exceptional and innovative work in fostering a secure, inclusive and accepting school environment. This year, 10 Ontario schools received the award based on their initiative, creativity and leadership in promoting a safe, inclusive and accepting school climate. ÉSC Champlain is the only school in Northern Ontario to receive this prestigious award this year.

“I am proud that our school team has been recognized for the efforts it has made since the spring 2016 launch of Ontario’s Well-Being Strategy for Education,” commented ÉSC Champlain principal Mr. Yves Laliberté. “The strategies that were put in place since then have called upon broad-based cooperation among members of the Catholic School Council, staff, student leaders and community partners. Together, we were successful in establishing a positive school climate where everyone feels safe, included and accepted.”

“I am so proud of all the members of the ÉSC Champlain team for their work in ensuring that each and every student feels safe and accepted at school,” added Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, Director of Education at the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario. “This award reaffirms the fact that our schools truly take our students’ success and development potential to heart.”

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
