Through a $3,000 contribution from Caisse Desjardins Ontario towards its "Rouler sans limites" project, École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury) will be able to introduce students to outdoor cycling activities this spring. This support will enable the school to purchase some 15 mountain bikes, helmets, air chambers and repair kits. By having access to this equipment in their secondary school, more students will be able to discover and take part in this sporting activity.

Some 125 grade 9 and 10 students from Collège Notre-Dame (100 Lévis St., Sudbury) will gather in the school’s junior cafeteria on Friday, February 23, from 1 to 2:15 p.m., to take part in Expo-sciences CND 2024 science fair. Members of the media are invited to meet the young scientists.

As part of the Winter Carnival activities at École Jean-Paul II (1795 Main Street, Val Caron), junior kindergarten to grade 8 students will take part in a cardboard box race on a snow-covered surface. This fun event will be held on Friday, February 23, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., on the school grounds. Members of the media are invited to attend this fun winter activity.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon), Rainbow District School Board (RDSB), Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCSDB) and Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord have rescheduled the April 19th Professional Activity Day to Monday, April 8, 2024.

Mr. Paul Henry, Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer at the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon, announced at the regular Board meeting of January 30, 2024 his forthcoming retirement effective December 31, 2024. First appointed to this position in 2019, Mr. Henry has contributed to the development of French-language Catholic education by overseeing the implementation of the school board’s vision: “French-language Catholic students, proud and ready to take their place in society.”

Starting in October 2024, Carrefour Options+, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, will offer once again the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Sudbury. Offered to students 18 years of age and older, this program will allow those interested in becoming a PSW to be trained in French in order to provide care to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including long-term care homes and community home care agencies. CSC Nouvelon is the second school board to offer this program in French in Ontario.
