The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon recently unveiled the two staff members who are being recognized for their exceptional contributions: Mr. Miguel Bélanger, teacher at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), and Ms. Roxanne White, teacher at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie). This distinction, which is awarded to two employees each year, recognizes individuals who truly stand out in their role.

Registration in Kindergarten as well as other grade levels is ongoing in Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools. Parents wishing to discover the countless benefits of French-language education are invited to contact the French-language Catholic school in their community. While children born in 2019 will start school in September 2023, those born in earlier years can register in a CSC Nouvelon elementary or secondary school, located in various communities in the Districts of Algoma and Sudbury-Manitoulin and benefit from their tradition of excellence.

Six Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools recently received the EcoSchools Canada certification for the 2022-2023 school year. With this designation, the EcoSchools Canada Program recognizes the work of schools in promoting environmental learning and climate action. École St-Denis (Sudbury) and École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) were each awarded a platinum level certification, École St-Augustin (Garson) and École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) obtained a gold level certification, École Saint-Joseph (Blind River) earned a silver level a certification while a bronze level certification was awarded to École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury).

On June 20, the Carrefour Options+ school community proudly celebrated the first two graduates of its Personal Support Worker (PSW) program. Alyssa Bélanger and Sylvie Trottier received their PSW certification as well as their pin and certificate from the Ontario Long Term Care Association.

For more than 25 years, at the end of June, students at École St-Dominique (2096 Montfort Street, Sudbury) have the opportunity to take part in the school’s Olympics. For a few days, students from kindergarten to grade 6 are divided into teams representing different countries to partake in sports activities and knowledge games. This year, the Olympics opening ceremony will take place on Monday, June 26, and the activities will take place on June 27 and 29. The closing ceremony and presentation of medals will be held on Thursday, June 29

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the upcoming Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon elementary school track and field competition. Some 350 grade 4 to 6 students from over 15 Greater Sudbury area schools will gather at the Laurentian University athletic track on Wednesday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to take part in this annual friendly competition.

Sudbury—St-Jean-Baptiste has been celebrated in the Greater Sudbury community since the early 1900s. However, since 1998, a committee made up of community organizations and the media has been organizing the celebration in a variety of formats. And this year, the committee is celebrating its 25th anniversary!
