Carrefour Options+ celebrates move to new space

January 30, 2020

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon celebrated earlier today the official opening of Carrefour Options+ new learning environment on the second floor of the St. Albert Learning Centre, located at 504 St. Raphael Street, in Sudbury. The ceremony also featured a new partnership between the CSC Nouvelon and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. Both Catholic school boards take pride in joining efforts to offer quality French- and English-language Catholic education.

Carrefour Options+, CSC Nouvelon’s alternative education and training center, offers a very different operating structure than that of a regular school. While offering a flexible schedule, Carrefour Options+ allows teenagers and adults to study independently and take a variety of credit courses required to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students have access to the following programs: day school (grade 9 to 12), continuing education (21 years of age and over), recognition of prior learning for experienced students and evening courses for secondary school students. Students benefit from the support and guidance of a committed teaching staff.

« We are confident that by being well located in the downtown core of Sudbury, our Carrefour Options+ students and families will be able to better benefit from the services offered by our alternative education and training center, » said CSC Nouvelon Chair Mr. André Bidal. « This move will also allow us to take part in joint projects with the Sudbury Catholic District School as well as provide our students with quality learning space and stimulating training opportunities. »

« Our Carrefour Options+ staff is committed to the success of all students and will greatly benefit from the new premises, » stated Mr. Paul Henry, Director of Education at CSC Nouvelon. “In light of its mandate to support and accompany teenagers and adult students and due to the importance of forging close ties with our partners, we remain convinced that with its new learning environment, Carrefour Options+ will welcome a greater number of students and will be able to better serve them. »

“We are very pleased to welcome CSC Nouvelon to our partnership with St. Albert Learning Centre,” stated Mr. Michael Bellmore, Chair of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. “Our two Catholic School Boards will benefit from a shared-space model which will encourage an environment where staff and students from both Boards are provided opportunities for collaboration and leadership. We thank all those who have helped establish this partnership; particularly our Board of Trustees for their support throughout the process as well as our Senior Administration for their leadership. We look forward to working alongside CSC Nouvelon in this new journey at St. Albert Learning Centre. »

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 6,700 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
