Student chess masters achieve fun and excellence at the Franco-Nord-Ouest Chess Tournament

On May 23, over 300 young chess masters in grades 3 to 12 from 20 French-language Catholic and public schools gathered in Wawa for the eighth Franco-Nord-Ouest Chess Tournament. The competition, hosted by École Saint-Joseph in Wawa, attracted francophone students from the following elementary and secondary schools: École Ste-Marie (Azilda), École Sacré-Cœur (Chapleau), ÉSC Trillium (Chapleau), École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), École St-Joseph (Dubreuilville), École La Renaissance (Espanola), École Notre-Dame (Hamner), École Saint Nom de Jésus (Hornepayne), École St-Paul (Lively), École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie), École Écho-des-Rapides (Sault Ste. Marie), ÉS Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault-Ste-Marie), École St-Charles Borromée (St-Charles), École St-Denis (Sudbury), École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse), École St-Thomas (Warren), ÉSC de La Vérendrye (Thunder Bay), École l’Escalade (Wawa), École Saint-Joseph (Wawa) and ÉS Saint-Joseph (Wawa).

Over 300 young chess masters will meet in Wawa on Thursday, May 23, for the eighth Franco-Nord-Ouest Chess Tournament. A celebration of Francophone music and youth with Collège Notre-Dame’s Le Bistro

On Thursday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m., Le Bistro, Collège Notre-Dame’s (CND) singing café will present its end-of-the year showcase to the public. The concert will take place in the school junior cafeteria located at 100 Lévis Street in Sudbury. The students are proud to be able to share their musical talent through this event. Tickets are $8 each and snacks will be available for purchase during the intermission.

Carrefour Options+ to offer the Personal Support Worker program in French in 2024-2025

Starting in October 2024, Carrefour Options+, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, will offer once again the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Sudbury. Offered to students 18 years of age and older, this program will allow those interested in becoming a PSW to be trained in French in order to provide care to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including long-term care homes and community home care agencies. CSC Nouvelon is the second school board to offer this program in French in Ontario.
CSC Nouvelon will be holding a ceremony Celebrating Victory in Europe Day in 1945

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will hold a ceremony on Wednesday, May 8, at 11 a.m., celebrating Victory in Europe Day. This memorial gathering will take place at the head office of CSC Nouvelon, located at 201, rue Jogues in Sudbury. This commemoration of the Victory of 1945 and the end of fighting in the Second World War on the European continent is important in many Allied countries, particularly France, which pays tribute on this day to the commitment of its military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

CSC Nouvelon students will be spreading gestures of love during Catholic Education Week

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will celebrate Catholic Education Week under the theme “We Are Called to Love.” From May 6 to 10, school boards across the province will promote the added value of a Catholic education and the overall excellence of French-language Catholic schools.
