On September 28, 57 grade 7 and 8 students (35 boys and 12 girls) from eleven Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools took part in the annual CSC Nouvelon elementary schools golf tournament held at the Twin Stacks Golf Club in Coniston. This competition enabled the talented golfers from St-Denis (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Notre-Dame (Hamner), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville), St-Étienne (Dowling) et St-Thomas (Warren) to benefit from a friendly competitive encounter with fellow students from neighbouring French-language Catholic schools.

During the night of Wednesday, October 4, some 90 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by staff members. This year marks the 13th Homeless for a Night event for Champlain. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the ÉSC Champlain school property located at 61 Brookside Road in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 6, at 8 a.m.

With the intention to help families support their children's learning, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon Parents’ Participation Committee will offer throughout this year a series of 11 sessions on a variety of themes related to learning and well-being. In light of the important contributions of parents to the learning and well-being of students, the school board wishes to support and equip families to accompany their children in their educational journey. These virtual sessions, led by Dr. Alexandra Fortier, a specialist in mental health and education, representatives from Public Health Sudbury & Districts and the Centre Victoria pour femmes, as well as specialists from CSC Nouvelon, will be offered via Microsoft Teams.

On Tuesday, October 10, at 12-noon, some 250 students from five Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon secondary schools will attend a presentation from the Sultans of String group entitled "Walking Through the Fire". Presented by Café Héritage in Collège Boréal's Salle Trisac, the show will feature non-Indigenous artists who will be joined by First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists, all from Turtle Island. The following group of students will attend the event: grade 9 and 10 from ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River); grade 9 and 10 from ÉSC La Renaissance (Espanola); grade 10 from Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury); grade 10 from ÉS du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury) and grade 10 from ÉSC Champlain (Chelmsford).

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will celebrate the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day along with staff and parents in their school on Monday, September 25. They will take part in a multitude of dynamic activities in their schools and communities planned to honour the strength of their francophone community. The following is a list of activities hosted by CSC Nouvelon schools. Members of the media are invited to attend.

This year, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will benefit from the dedication of two student trustees who will serve as student representatives for the Board as well as the Student Senate. Mariska Lamothe and Zackary Vaillancourt will take part in the Board’s first meeting scheduled on Tuesday, September 26.

It is with great pride that École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) will offer once again the Hockey Canada Skills Academy (AHHC) Program. Launched in 2022-2023, this specialized program allows grade 11 and 12 students with a passion for hockey to perfect their mastery of the sport within the framework of the school day and earn two credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. ÉSC l’Horizon is the first French-language secondary school in Greater Sudbury to offer this program which is available at a cost of $400 per student. The fees will help cover certain costs related to the program including arena rental, transportation and equipment.
