Parents wishing to register their child in a full-time French-language Kindergarten program are invited to discover Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s elementary schools during its Kindergarten Registration event from Monday, January 22, to Friday, January 26. This event will be of interest to parents of children born in 2020 who will be attending school in September 2024. All parents are cordially invited to attend, along with their families.

The staff at the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon board office will donate no less than $9,024 to five Greater Sudbury charities to help support those in need this Christmas season.

No less than 32 teams from 15 Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools gathered at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) on December 12 and 13 to take part in the Grade 5 and 6 Volleyball Tournament. The tournament intended to offer students a friendly competitive experience, encourage the development of sports skills and promote student participation. Teams from the following schools took part in this friendly tournament: Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford); St-Étienne (Dowling), La Renaissance (Espanola), St-Augustin (Garson), Notre-Dame (Hanmer), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Denis (Sudbury), St-Dominique (Sudbury), St-Joseph (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) and Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse). Congratulations to the young athletes for their outstanding sportsmanship.

Grade 8 students and parents are invited to take part in Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s eight secondary school Open House events from Tuesday, January 16, to Monday, January 22. With its network of French-language Catholic secondary schools in Sudbury, Val Caron, Chelmsford, Espanola, Blind River, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa and Chapleau, CSC Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic educational program recognized for its excellence and innovation. Its secondary school programs enable students to acquire a high level of bilingualism and to receive top quality education that will prepare them to pursue all post-secondary destinations. CSC Nouvelon secondary schools also stand out with the highest graduation rate in Northern Ontario.

This year, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon's Intermediate Volleyball League offered a record number of students the opportunity to live a great sporting experience. An estimated 372 grades 7 and 8 students, distributed on 17 girls' teams and 14 boys' teams took part in the circuit. Between October 2 and November 30, 126 games were played in the regular season, while the playoffs included 42. Among the 13 French-language schools playing in the CSC Nouvelon Volleyball League were nine from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and four from Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord.

On December 4, no less than 102 chess enthusiasts took part in the second Collège Notre-Dame Chess Tournament. Gathered in the gymnasium of this secondary school were grade 7 and 8 students from the following eleven Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon elementary schools: École Ste Marie (Azilda), École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), École catholique La Renaissance (Espanola), École Notre-Dame (Hanmer), École St-Paul (Lively), École catholique Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), École St-Pierre (Sudbury), École St-Denis (Sudbury), École Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse) and École St-Thomas (Warren). Each player had the opportunity to play five matches.
