ÉSC Champlain to host the Festival Franco-Requins and a Family Fun Day as part of Franco-Ontarian day celebrations

École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) is planning quite the celebration to highlight the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. The celebration will begin on Sunday, September 22, with a Family Fun Day for the whole community and will continue on Monday, September 23, with the Festival Franco-Requins for students. This fun-filled two-day celebration seeks to promote the vitality of the Franco-Ontarian community. All activities will take place at ÉSC Champlain, located at 61 Brookside Drive in Chelmsford.
CSC Nouvelon students’ graduation rate among the best in Ontario

The Government of Ontario recently released the 2018 student graduation figures for the province’s Catholic and public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon takes great pride in the fact that 93% of its students complete the requirements for their high school diploma in less than five years, with 91.3% receiving their diploma in four years. The CSCNO students’ graduation rate is among the best among all school boards in Ontario and is the highest among all school boards operating in the districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma.

A new school year begins on September 4

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon staff are looking forward to welcoming students on Wednesday, September 4, the first school day of the 2019-2020 school year. This year’s theme “L’éducation catholique : Allumer la flamme de l’espérance ” (Catholic Education: Igniting Hope) incites students and staff to celebrate the good work and hope of Catholic education now and in the future.
Appointment of CSC Nouvelon school Vice-Principal

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is pleased to announce the following appointment of Ms. Mélanie Lamoureux at Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) for the 2019-2020 school year.
Having taught in Greater Sudbury since 2001 and specialized in special needs education, Ms. Lamoureux has been a guest speaker at several education congresses and seminars. In her role of learning consultant among the TacTic provincial team of the Centre franco-ontarien de ressources pédagogiques since 2017, Mélanie Lamoureux accumulated teacher-training experience in elementary and secondary schools across Northern Ontario. She also sat in several Education and Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) committees’ in preparation of the grades 6 and 9 mathematics testing.
A summer camp with great appeal to young basketball players

As in past years, young basketball enthusiasts from Greater Sudbury will be fine-tuning their skills during the Franco-Basket Camp organized by the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon Some 50 children between the ages 8 to 13 years are taking part in this camp, from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, at Collège Notre-Dame, located at 100 Lévis St, in Sudbury.

A free summer program that helps kids transition to Kindergarten

As part of their Apprends p’tit (Little Learners) program, 17 Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon elementary schools will be welcoming, in August, children who are starting Kindergarten this coming September. Through play, this free program helps future CSC Nouvelon students become familiar with the school environment and schedule.
