On April 14, as part of its conference, the International Dyslexia Association of Ontario paid tribute to Ms. Alex-Andrée Madore, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon psychologist, by presenting her with the 2023 Literacy Leader Award. With the presentation of this award, this provincial association recognizes her engagement in promoting awareness and understanding of structured literacy programming in their setting and helping students with learning disabilities through the science of reading.

As part of her work at CSC Nouvelon, Ms. Madore has transformed literacy teaching practices through informative webinars aimed at helping students learn to read and encouraging teachers to complete their knowledge. This psychologist never misses an opportunity to educate those around her while preserving their confidence and highlighting their contribution to ensuring the right to read for every student. More information is available on her website: www.childpsychologynorth.com . Alex-Andrée has also created a YouTube channel (youtube.com/@alexpsyscolaire)for parents and teachers where she posts short informative videos on how to implement science-based education in everyday life. If reading is a right, she believes teachers should have access to free, high-quality, evidence-based materials to make it happen.

"Students and staff from all of our schools are fortunate to benefit from Alex-Andrée’s expertise and passion as well as the support of all Special Education team members. While highlighting Ms. Madore's remarkable work, this award also recognizes CSC Nouvelon's commitment to supporting all students so they can benefit from the support they need during their studies to succeed," stated Mr. Paul Henry, Director of education and secretary-treasurer at CSC Nouvelon.
