April 2, 2013

In February, students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 3 at École St-Joseph in Hanmer enthusiastically took part in the “Biting into Books” (Mordez dans les livres) program. Congratulations to the participants who together read no less than 2,200 books as part of this challenge. Through this initiative offered to its schools, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario encourages students to become avid readers and to make this activity part of their daily schedule.

As a special incentive, students were entitled to receive a free pizza from Pizza Pazzaz once they had read 25 books. Motivated to devour a book and to benefit from this appetizing offer, 88 of the 160 school students read at least 25 books and were rewarded with a free pizza coupon. Parents were also able to participate by reading books to junior and senior kindergarten students to help them improve their score.
