June 3, 2013

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the fourth Franco-Espo, a Francophone Catholic Pride rally in Espanola, on Friday, June 7. This event provides an opportunity for École Saint-Joseph and École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest students from kindergarten to grade 12 to celebrate the vitality of their faith, language and culture. This year, students and staff from École Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake), École Sainte-Anne (Spanish) and École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) will also be taking part in the activity, the only Francophone community activity in Espanola.

The event will begin with a pep rally at 10 a.m., at École Saint-Joseph, followed by a march from the school along Espanola’s main streets. Students and staff from all five schools, along with parents, friends and members of the community, will take part in the march promoting the Francophone presence in Espanola. The rally will end at Red McCarthy Park with a barbecue for the Francophone community. Children will be able to enjoy the inflatable play stations and games. Activities such as a bingo are also planned for seniors.
