The Ministry of Education is encouraging area school boards to work together to address student accommodation needs in Espanola. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), Rainbow District School Board and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) are collaborating to determine how best to deliver education in English and in French in this community.

The CSCNO and HSCDSB will each host a public information session with their respective school communities on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. The session hosted by the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will take place at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at École Saint-Joseph, located at 333 Mead Blvd, in Espanola. The CSCNO session will take place in French.

During these sessions, both school boards will present to their school communities the document entitled “Feasibility Study for the Redevelopment of Catholic Schools in Espanola” that will include the results of the feasibility and evaluation of various options pertaining to the utilization of school sites in Espanola. The goal of this collaborative effort is to maximize the use of space while ensuring that all students continue to have access to the best programming possible in quality school facilities.

“The CSCNO is committed to offering Espanola’s French-language Catholic families quality learning spaces designed to meet the academic, cultural and spiritual needs of our students,” stated Mr. Marcel Montpellier, President of the CSCNO. “This session will enable citizens to become familiar with different possible options, offer their input and participate in this collaborative exercise involving all three school boards.”

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario (CSCNO) operates one French Catholic elementary school in Espanola – École élémentaire catholique Saint-Joseph. CSCNO also leases space at Espanola High School for École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
