The Franco-Ontarian techno-trad band Swing will present a special exclusive concert to grade 7 and 8 students from Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools in Greater Sudbury on Friday, February 21, at 12:45 p.m. This concert, which will serve as a prelaunch event of the band’s new mini album entitled "Le temps s’arrête," will take place at the Science North Cavern (100 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury). This will be the first album to be released by Swing in close to five years. Members of the media are invited.

"We take great pride in knowing that our students will be among the first in Ontario to discover Swing’s new material. This Franco-Ontarian band has an immense and loyal following across French-Canada, and is greatly appreciated by our students. By making it possible for our students to experience dynamic francophone cultural activities such as this one, we are strengthening their Franco-Ontarian identity," stated Mrs. Lyse-Anne Papineau, CSCNO Director of Education.

Having presented more than 900 shows before some 500,000 spectators across Canada and outside of the country during their 15 year career, Swing is one of the most popular bands among Ontario’s Francophone youth!

SWING is the successful fusion of rock and folk music. Describing their music as "urban folk," the band has succeeded in blending the roots of folk music to contemporary styles while spinning them in a connected universe. The winner of several musical awards, Swing has produced three best-selling albums: "La chanson s@crée" (1999), "La vie comme ça" (2003) and "Tradarnac" (2008).

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
