Last week, the girls’ volleyball team from Espanola’s École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest won first place at the North Shore Secondary School Athletics (NSSSA) Championships. In a very competitive final round, the Franco-Ouest Lynx defeated Wikwemikong High School Warriors by a score of 3 games to 2.

The Franco-Ouest Lynx had an outstanding season this year with six victories and no losses. The Lynx earned and enviable reputation in volley-ball, winning the North Shore championships in their division twice in the last three years. On Friday, February 21, Franco-Ouest will host the top teams from other centres taking part in the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) Championship.
