The fifth Franco-Espo, Espanola’s Francophone Catholic Pride rally is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 12. This year, some 700 Francophone Catholic students from across Espanola and the North Shore area will gather for the pride event and celebrate the vitality of their faith, language and culture.

Students and staff from École Saint-Joseph (Blind River), École Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake), École Sainte-Anne (Spanish), École St-Paul (Lively) will join their colleagues from École Saint-Joseph (Espanola) and ÉSC Franco-Ouest (Espanola), making the Franco-Espo one of the most important Francophone activities in the North Shore area.

The event will begin with a pep rally at 10 a.m., at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex (175 Avery St. Espanola). At 10:30 a.m., participants will march from the arena along Espanola’s main streets towards Red McCarthy Park. Students and staff from all six schools, along with parents, friends and members of the community, will take part in the march that celebrates and promotes the Francophone presence in Espanola. The rally will end at Red McCarthy Park with a barbecue for the Francophone community, inflatable play stations and games on site for kids and various other activities available for children and participants of all ages.
