At its regular meeting on June 25, 2013, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) recognized remarkable persons for their outstanding contributions to French Catholic education during the 2013-2014 school year. The merit awards provide an opportunity for the CSCNO to reward two members of the school board who, through their efforts and actions, are models of Catholic faith and francophone pride.

Tasia Lachapelle, student at École St-Étienne in Dowling, displays great pride towards her language and her faith and an exceptional commitment to her school through her leadership as student council president. Her contributions to her schools’ charity efforts as well as her community involvement, having participated in the recent Kanata 1534 production and contributing numerous volunteer hours, deem her a model student within her school and community.

For her part, École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse) teacher, Lise Poulin, is highly committed to school activities and demonstrates with integrity her sense of Catholic and Francophone pride and belonging.  Her strong belief and commitment to developing student leadership and contributing to student success sees her lead numerous clubs and organize various sports and extracurricular activities.  Her unconditional support to students and fellow staff is greatly appreciated at her school.

“We extend a great deal of gratitude to all members of our school community for their commitment and their contributions to the well-being and advancement of their school and of the CSCNO. This year, the Conseil scolaire takes great pride in recognizing Tasia Lachapelle and Lise Poulin for their outstanding contributions to French-language Catholic education,” commented CSCNO President André Bidal.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
