The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) issued a notice of full strike action on Monday, November 21, 2022 if a new contractual agreement is not reached by then with the Ontario government. Within the CSC Nouvelon, this union represents janitorial and maintenance staff. All CSC Nouvelon elementary and secondary schools will remain open on Monday, November 21.

During its inaugural board meeting on November 15, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon school trustees re-elected Ms. Suzanne Salituri as President for the 2022-2023 school year. Ms. Louise Essiembre will serve as Vice-President for the same term. 

October 26, 2022

Starting in January 2023, Carrefour Options+, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, will offer the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Sudbury. Offered to students 18 years of age and older, this program will allow those interested in becoming a PSW to be trained in French in order to provide care to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including long-term residential institutions and community home care agencies. CSC Nouvelon is the second school board to offer this program in French in Ontario.

October 27, 2022

On Thursday, October 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., some 30 grade 7 and 8 and cooperative education teachers, as well as guidance counselors from various Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will meet at the Sudbury campus of Collège Boréal to take part in a training session entitled "A Choice to Learn about Skilled Trades."

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is pleased to congratulate the candidates in the recent school board election who were successful in their quest to serve as school trustees with the CSC Nouvelon. After all votes were cast on Monday, October 24, the following trustees, representing the eight zones of the CSC Nouvelon, have been elected to its Board for a four-year term starting on November 15, 2022.

During the night of Wednesday, October 5, some 100 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by staff members. This year marks the 12th Homeless for a Night event for Champlain. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the ÉSC Champlain school property located at 61 Brookside Road in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 6, at 8 a.m.

It is with great pride that École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) offers the Hockey Canada Skills Academy (AHHC) Program since the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Available to students in grades 11 and 12 at ÉSC l’Horizon, this specialized program allows students with a passion for hockey to perfect their mastery of the sport within the framework of the school day and earn two credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. ÉSC l’Horizon is the first French-language secondary school in the Greater Sudbury to offer this program which is available at a cost of $400 per student. The fees will help cover certain costs related to the program including arena rental, transportation and equipment.
