Hanmer’s École St-Joseph students display a hunger for books

In February, students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 3 at École St-Joseph in Hanmer enthusiastically took part in the “Biting into Books” (Mordez dans les livres) program. Congratulations to the participants who together read no less than 2,200 books as part of this challenge. Through this initiative offered to its schools, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario encourages students to become avid readers and to make this activity part of their daily schedule.

Wawa’s Saint-Joseph Chevaliers claim two volleyball banners

The Chevaliers from Wawa’s École secondaire Saint-Joseph continued their dominance on March 19 and 20 by winning the North Shore Secondary School Athletic Association’s (NSSSAA) girls’ regional junior and senior volleyball championships. With these championship titles, École secondaire Saint-Joseph now has five sports banners hanging in the school.

Two CSCNO students are living an unforgettable experience at Queen’s Park

Since March 18, two Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) are living a unique experience at Queen’s Park as Page in the province’s Legislature. Magalie Malette, a grade 7 student at École catholique Félix-Ricard in Sudbury, and Nicolas Bédard, a grade 8 student at École Jean-Paul II in Val Caron, were selected among hundreds of applicants seeking to participate in the Legislative Page Program.

École Saint-Joseph students win “Disconnect and Move” challenge

Grade 6 students at Blind River’s École Saint-Joseph met the “Disconnect and Move” challenge (défi Débranchez et bougez) that was offered, from January 21 to 25, to Francophone grade 5 and 6 students in the Greater Sudbury and Algoma districts. Organized by the Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury’s Youth Action team, this activity sought to motivate grade 5 and 6 teachers and students to reduce the time dedicated to technology on a daily basis and to increase the amount of time spent on physical activity. The group of students was rewarded with a bag of sports equipment.
