Sudbury – At its regular meeting held on June 26, 2013, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) adopted a balanced operating budget of $118,702,843 and $5,197,649 in capital projects expenses for the 2013-2014 school year. This budget includes an increase of 1.3% ($1.50 million) in revenues as compared to 2012-2013.

On Wednesday, July 3, at 8 p.m., Greater Sudbury Francophones will see their community’s visibility raised to a higher level throughout the country with the nationwide broadcast of Radio Canada’s La Petite Séduction TV program. The show’s television audience – often as many as one million strong – will discover the energy of Sudbury citizens and appreciate the remarkable red carpet they set out to welcome Franco-Ontarian artist and comedian Patrick Groulx and program host Dany Turcotte when the episode was taped in Sudbury at the end of May.

Since Friday, June 21, students at Sudbury’s École St-Dominique (2096 Montfort St., Sudbury) are participating in the 18th St-Dominique Olympic Games. This school activity, which promotes participation and fair play, will wrap up on Wednesday, June 26, with its closing ceremonies. In 2010, the Our Children-Our Future agency presented an Award of Excellence to École St-Dominique to highlight this excellent activity and acknowledge the capacity of the school and its staff in making a difference in the lives of children, families and the entire community.

The Ministry of Education is encouraging area school boards to work together to address student accommodation needs in Espanola.

As a result, Rainbow District School Board, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board are collaborating to determine how best to deliver education in English and in French in this community.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Lise Dewar as Temporary Principal at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault in Sault Ste. Marie and Mrs. Gisèle Lamy as Principal at École St-Antoine in Noëlville. These changes follow nominations that were previously announced by the Board in April 2013.

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the fourth Franco-Espo, a Francophone Catholic Pride rally in Espanola, on Friday, June 7. This event provides an opportunity for École Saint-Joseph and École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest students from kindergarten to grade 12 to celebrate the vitality of their faith, language and culture. This year, students and staff from École Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake), École Sainte-Anne (Spanish) and École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) will also be taking part in the activity, the only Francophone community activity in Espanola.
